Case files and general correspondence of the Social Welfare Division as the agency designated to administer two federal wartime emergency assistance programs: 1) aid to enemy aliens and others in need because of restrictive actions of the U.S. government (primarily relocated Japanese-Americans); and 2) aid to U.S. citizens evacuated or repatriated from areas under the direction of U.S. civil or military authorities (primarily the Philippines and Hawaii), or in need as a result of enemy action.
